Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has stirred the political waters once again by claiming that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka could soon align himself with President William Ruto.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Cherargei downplayed Kalonzo’s recent National Delegates Conference (NDC), terming it “lacking the energy of a national political event.” He went on to predict that the former Vice President’s political future “lies with President Ruto,” suggesting that a working relationship between the two could emerge in the coming months.
“Mark you, in a couple of months, the former vice president shall be in a working political relationship with President Ruto. That’s where his future lies,” Cherargei wrote.
Kalonzo, who has recently positioned himself as a key opposition figure ahead of the 2027 General Election, has repeatedly dismissed suggestions that he would join Ruto’s government. During his party’s NDC at the SKM Command Centre, Kalonzo reaffirmed his commitment to uniting the opposition and challenging the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He called on young Kenyans, especially the Gen Z demographic, to register as voters and “shoot Ruto at the ballot.” On Saturday, he continued his voter mobilisation drive in Embu County, urging supporters to seize the opportunity to redefine Kenya’s political direction.
“The time for lamentations is over, the time for excuses is gone. The moment for change is now,” Kalonzo told supporters.
Cherargei’s remarks come in the wake of Gideon Moi’s decision to back President Ruto, signaling shifting political alliances. However, political commentator Pauline Njoroge dismissed the senator’s claims, calling them “wishful thinking.”
“Why would Kalonzo abandon the united opposition when he now stands his best chance at the presidency?” she posed.
As the political temperature rises, speculation over new alliances continues to dominate Kenya’s pre-election landscape.
