Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has launched a fiery attack on opposition leaders, accusing them of hypocrisy and warning that their alleged involvement in corruption will soon be revealed.
Speaking on Saturday, September 20, 2025, during an empowerment programme in Kapenguria, West Pokot, Cheruiyot dismissed the opposition’s frequent criticism of President William Ruto’s administration, insisting they lacked the moral authority to lecture the government on graft.
“Wakati wa siasa ikifika tutaambiana ukweli… tutawaanika uchi peupe mpaka mambo yao ijulikane,” he declared, loosely translated as: “When politics comes, we will tell the truth… we will expose them completely until their secrets are known.”
Cheruiyot accused opposition leaders of pretending to champion accountability while being “bigger thieves” than those they criticize. He described them as “liars worse than the devil” who thrive on propaganda instead of delivering development.
The senator further challenged the opposition to show tangible results from their leadership, particularly in regions like West Pokot, where he claimed they had little to show in terms of building schools, churches, or other meaningful projects.
“Huezi onyeshwa shule wameijenga hapa West Pokot, ama kanisa, lakini kwa fitina namba moja,” he remarked, meaning “They cannot show you a school or church they have built here in West Pokot, but when it comes to causing trouble, they are number one.”
Turning his attention to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Cheruiyot ridiculed his presidential ambitions, asserting that he is no match for President Ruto. He argued that the opposition lacks credible leadership capable of rivaling the current administration.
The senator’s remarks come amid growing political tensions, with corruption remaining a hot-button issue in Kenya’s political landscape. His statements signal a renewed battlefront as both government and opposition prepare for the next phase of political contest.
