Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has strongly refuted claims that President William Ruto is plotting to rig the 2027 General Election, terming the allegations as politically charged falsehoods aimed at derailing public confidence.
Speaking on Tuesday during a Special Programmes outreach event in Chakaleri, Mwatate, in Taita Taveta County, Ruku emphasized that President Ruto’s re-election will be based on performance and visible development milestones delivered by the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“President Ruto will win the next General Election not through manipulation, but because of his tangible track record in service delivery,” said Ruku. “These are not just promises real, visible projects are already changing lives on the ground in less than two years.”
Ruku pointed to over Sh3 billion in government investment in Taita Taveta County, spanning key sectors such as infrastructure, education, housing, energy, and market modernization. He highlighted that these projects are part of the broader Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which aims to empower grassroots communities.
A major initiative under the Affordable Housing Programme has seen a Sh2 billion commitment towards constructing low-cost housing units in the region. The CS noted that this move not only addresses housing shortages but also creates vital employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.
In the education sector, Ruku announced that Taita Taveta University had received Sh750 million for the development of 1,700 student hostel units. Additionally, 58 new classrooms have been constructed across 68 schools in Mwatate to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
On energy access, Sh200 million has been invested in 15 rural electrification projects, with an additional Sh60 million allocated to 10 more under the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).
Further, the CS revealed that Matunge Market, which is 90 per cent complete, exemplifies government efforts to modernize trading centres and strengthen local commerce.
Ruku urged leaders to focus on truth and development rather than political propaganda. “The Kenya Kwanza government is focused on delivering meaningful development to the people. That will be the basis of our victory, not propaganda,” he said.
