Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has strongly criticized opposition leaders for allegedly spreading hatred and incitement among Kenyans. Speaking on Saturday in Riruta Ward, Dagoretti South Constituency, Ruku accused the opposition of engaging in divisive rhetoric instead of focusing on meaningful development.
According to Ruku, many opposition figures have previously held high-profile government positions, including ministerial, vice-presidential, and deputy presidential roles, yet failed to deliver tangible results for Kenyans. “Those who have hatred in their hearts after they were given jobs and could not deliver, all they do now is incite from morning to evening,” he said.
The CS emphasized that Kenya remains one united country governed by a single constitution, and urged citizens not to fall for what he described as the opposition’s “petty politics.” He added that Kenyans are intelligent and capable of distinguishing between leaders who are truly working for their benefit and those merely seeking political mileage.
“Kenyans are smart; they know who is working and who is not,” Ruku stated, reiterating the government’s commitment to serving all citizens without discrimination. He said President William Ruto’s administration is focused on delivering services equitably to all Kenyans, regardless of political affiliation.
Ruku was speaking during the distribution of emergency relief supplies to 120 families who lost their homes in a recent fire tragedy in Riruta. The assistance forms part of the broader disaster management and recovery framework implemented by the State Department for Special Programmes.
He assured the affected families that the government is actively working on comprehensive disaster response mechanisms to support vulnerable communities. “The government of Kenya is a government of all people from all walks of life. All Kenyans pay taxes, and they have a right to receive service from the government, and that is what the President is doing,” he affirmed.
Ruku’s remarks come at a time of heightened political tension, with opposition leaders continuing to criticize the government’s handling of economic and social issues. The CS, however, called for unity and urged leaders to put aside personal interests for the good of the country.
