Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has reiterated his firm support for President William Ruto, openly declaring that he would back the head of state over any opposition figure “any day, any time.” Speaking during a public function in Ugunja Constituency on Sunday, Wandayi criticized opposition leaders for their persistent criticism of the government and dismissed their ability to offer credible alternatives for Kenya’s development.
“If you give me a choice between Gachagua, Kalonzo, Matiang’i …etc on one side and President William Ruto on the other side, I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that I will go with Ruto any day any time,” Wandayi stated emphatically.
The Cabinet Secretary, who was once aligned with opposition politics, emphasized that the current broad-based government, which enjoys the backing of various political leaders including Azimio’s Raila Odinga, is committed to transformative leadership. He argued that the opposition’s rhetoric lacks substance and vision for Kenya’s future, branding it as regressive rather than revolutionary.
Wandayi commended the Ruto administration for its efforts to turn around the economy and improve the lives of ordinary Kenyans. He said that key initiatives implemented by the government are already making an impact, and he urged Kenyans to remain patient and supportive.
“The broad-based government has made great efforts to turn around the economy of this country and to make life more bearable,” he said, praising the inclusive nature of the current administration.
The CS further highlighted the positive role played by Raila Odinga, whose collaboration with the government he described as critical in bridging political divides and ensuring national stability. He credited this cooperation with helping to foster a conducive environment for economic recovery and development.
Wandayi called on Kenyans to rally behind the government’s initiatives, insisting that unity and collective responsibility are essential in achieving lasting national progress. His remarks come amid increasing political tensions and serve as a clear message of allegiance to President Ruto’s leadership.
