The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has strongly denounced a forged document circulating on social media that falsely claims major leadership changes within the party.
The document, which bears the DAP-K letterhead and is allegedly addressed to the Registrar of Political Parties, claims that an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting resolved to expel senior officials Hon. Eugene Wamalwa and Eseli Simiyu, while appointing new office bearers. It lists Governor George Natembeya as Party Leader, Deputy Governor Ayub Savula Angatia as Senior Deputy Party Leader, and Seth Panyako as Secretary General.
According to the fake letter, these changes were immediate and binding, urging the Registrar of Political Parties to update official records. The document, dated 12 November 2025, even features a signature and an imitation party stamp, though it now carries a prominent red “FAKE” watermark, added by DAP-K to alert the public.
“The entire communication is fabricated,” the party clarified, emphasizing that no such NEC meeting took place and no leadership changes or expulsions have been sanctioned. DAP-K reaffirmed that the party is officially led by Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, with Eseli Simiyu serving as Secretary General and George Natembeya as Deputy Party Leader.
The party warned members and the public to disregard the forged document, noting that it is a malicious attempt to mislead the public and create confusion. “DAP-K remains committed to transparency and adherence to its constitution,” the party added, urging anyone with questions to seek information directly from official party channels.
This incident highlights the growing trend of misinformation in Kenyan politics, particularly targeting political parties and their leadership structures. By swiftly addressing the forgery, DAP-K aims to protect its members and maintain trust among its supporters.
The party has also indicated that it is prepared to take any necessary legal action against those behind the fake communication.
DAP-K continues to operate under its current leadership and encourages the public to rely on verified sources for accurate information about party activities.
