Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Inspector General of Police (IG) Douglas Kanja following the passing of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja.
Amin visited the Inspector General’s home on Monday evening, where he offered words of comfort and support to the bereaved family. Mzee Kanja passed away on October 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of family and community service.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Amin described the loss as a period of deep sorrow not only for the Kanja family but also for the wider National Police Service. He extended condolences on behalf of the entire DCI fraternity, assuring the IG of their unwavering solidarity.
“The Director, together with the entire DCI fraternity, extends heartfelt condolences and stands in solidarity with the Inspector General and his family during this difficult time. We are united in mourning their loss and offer our deepest sympathies as they navigate this challenging period,” read the message.
According to the family, Mzee Kanja will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at their home in Thome Village, Matanya Sub-location, Tigithi Location, Laikipia County.
Amin assured the IG of continued prayers and support from the police fraternity as they prepare to bid farewell to their patriarch.
The condolence visit comes as the nation continues to mourn the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was buried on October 19 at his Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County. President William Ruto and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenyans in paying tribute to the late statesman, who was posthumously awarded Kenya’s highest civilian honour—the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart.
As the nation mourns two towering figures, messages of unity and comfort continue to flow from leaders and citizens alike.
