Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenyans that all counties will benefit from government development. He said no region will be left behind, regardless of political, tribal, or religious affiliations.
The DP spoke on Friday while hosting Tana River leaders and elders at the official residence in Karen, Nairobi. “The President has given a firm assurance that no county will be left behind on development,” he said.
Kindiki highlighted key government projects in Tana River County. These include infrastructure development, water expansion, electricity connections, affordable housing, and student accommodation units.
So far, the government has spent:
- Sh1.5 billion on rehabilitating the Bura Irrigation Scheme
- Sh260 million on constructing six fresh produce markets
- Sh15 billion on affordable housing projects
- Sh2 billion on student accommodation units
- Sh432 million on Last Mile Electricity Connectivity, connecting 2,700 households in Bura, Galole, and Garsen
The DP also promised to simplify the process of obtaining national identity documents for residents in border counties. He said, “No Kenyan child should be denied national documents because of their religion, birthplace, or community. Every child of Kenyan parents is a Kenyan.”
DP Kindiki called on elders to lead in promoting peace and unity. He warned against politicians who exploit ethnicity or religion to divide communities. “We must have healthy competition without using tribal or religious differences. Such divisions cause havoc and deaths,” he said.
He encouraged residents to remain united to achieve faster development. The DP said Tana River is progressing well compared to other counties in Kenya. He emphasized that politics should focus on ideas, not division.
Kindiki concluded by urging citizens to reject clannism and tribalism and work together for the county’s growth. He reminded them that unity and peace are the foundation for development.
