Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has taken a swipe at the opposition, accusing them of lacking tangible results for Kenyans. Speaking in Mbeere North Constituency, Embu County, where he addressed over 4,500 grassroots women on Wednesday, the DP said the opposition thrives on empty rhetoric and backward politics that do not benefit citizens.
“The opposition has nothing to offer. They have no roads, no schools, no hospitals, and no development to show. Let us focus on the government of the day because that is where development comes from,” Kindiki said.
He highlighted the government’s achievements in Mbeere North, including agricultural productivity programs, rural electrification, water supply projects, road construction, and job creation initiatives for the youth. According to him, these efforts demonstrate the administration’s commitment to uplifting lives at the grassroots level.
Prof. Kindiki also exuded confidence that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will clinch victory in the upcoming Mbeere North by-election scheduled for November 27. He rallied support for the party’s candidate, Leo Muriuki Muthende, who he said enjoys overwhelming backing across the constituency.
“We had eight other candidates who all qualified but chose to support Leo to avoid splitting votes. I believe this time, God willing, we will win the seat,” he stated.
The Deputy President commended women for their loyalty to UDA and their critical role in building local economies. He praised them for balancing household responsibilities while engaging in business, agriculture, and other income-generating activities.
“You can bank on the support of women. Once they commit to a cause, they stick to it. They are the most loyal supporters of UDA and remain the engine of society,” Kindiki said.
The event was attended by Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, and other leaders.
