Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday brought cheer and excitement to Kitui South after he joined local women dancers on stage during the Constituency Economic Empowerment Programme. The rare display of dance moves from the country’s second-in-command delighted residents and energized the event, held to promote grassroots economic development in the region.
Addressing the crowd after the performance, DP Kindiki reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises under the Kenya Kwanza administration. He assured Kenyans that they would soon begin to see the tangible value of their taxes through development across key sectors.
“We are an accountable government and the people will soon see value of their taxes in roads, markets, affordable housing, last mile connectivity and other transformative development programmes,” said Kindiki.
The event brought together women groups, youth representatives, Jua Kali artisans, and boda boda SACCOs from Kitui South and surrounding areas. Kindiki praised the Constituency Economic Empowerment Programme as a benchmark for economic inclusion and empowerment, stating that it aligns with the government’s bottom-up economic transformation agenda.
“This initiative is a strong example of how community-level development can support national economic goals. It empowers our people, creates jobs and builds local economies,” he said.
The Deputy President was accompanied by several leaders including MPs Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Caleb Mule (Machakos Town), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Joshua Mwalyo (Masinga), Titus Khamala (Lurambi), Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), and John Bwire (Taveta). Senator Tabitha Mutinda and President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet were also present.
The leaders lauded the programme and urged continued collaboration between the national and county governments to accelerate grassroots development.
Kindiki’s visit and his symbolic participation in local dance showcased a softer, more connected side of the Deputy President, reinforcing his administration’s emphasis on inclusivity, accountability, and community engagement.
