Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the church and promoting equitable development across the country. In a busy week of engagements from April 27 to April 30, Kindiki dismissed claims of tension between the church and the state, instead framing the relationship as collaborative and complementary.
Speaking at a harambee fundraiser at Marani Catholic Church in Kisii on April 27, Kindiki stressed the importance of church-state synergy. “We have no quarrel, no competition with the church; we only complement each other,” he stated, adding that the government respects all churches but will only engage with those open to constructive partnerships.
Kindiki’s presence at the fundraiser alongside prominent Kenya Kwanza leaders was seen as a strategic move to reinforce the administration’s ties with faith-based institutions amid public scrutiny of church-state relations.
The following day, April 28, the DP toured Samburu County, where he commissioned the Sh73 million Maralal Municipality Market, a project aimed at improving the working environment for local traders. He assured residents that no region would be excluded from the government’s development agenda. “Samburu will benefit just like every other part of our country,” he said.
On April 29, Kindiki attended a Cabinet meeting chaired by President William Ruto at State House, before hosting several key engagements the next day at his Official Residence in Karen.
On April 30, Kindiki chaired a consultative meeting bringing together the Kenya Forestry Service, Ministry of Lands, and Nakuru County leaders to address land adjudication and community engagement in forest conservation in Bahati Constituency. The same day, he met Nyandarua leaders to assess progress on ICT hubs, fresh produce markets, and affordable housing projects.
Kindiki also chaired a Cabinet committee meeting with Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi and other senior officials to streamline urgent government priorities.
Through his actions, Deputy President Kindiki continues to position himself as a unifying force championing both spiritual and developmental partnerships to steer Kenya’s progress forward.
