Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and his family are mourning the loss of a cherished family member, Roy Bulinya Sifuna. The family gathered at St. Francis Catholic Church in Kasarani on Thursday, November 20, 2025, to hold a memorial mass in his honour.
In a statement shared on his official social media channels, Sifuna described his late uncle as a brilliant engineer, noted for his politeness, patience, and kindness—qualities he described as rare even within their own family.
“The Sifuna Family is in mourning yet again. We lost Uncle Roy Bulinya Sifuna. We gathered at St. Francis Catholic Church, Kasarani, for mass in his memory. Uncle Bulinya was eulogised as a brilliant engineer who was always polite, patient and kind. Very few of us in the family can be described in those terms,” Sifuna wrote.
The senator further revealed that the family will lay Roy Bulinya to rest on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Siaka village, Kanduyi, Bungoma County. “We shall lay him to rest this Saturday in Siaka village, Kanduyi, Bungoma County. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
This loss comes after a series of family tragedies for the Sifunas. On December 3, 2023, the senator lost another uncle, the late Lawrence Sifuna, who served as the Bungoma South (now Kanduyi and Bumula) Member of Parliament. Lawrence Sifuna, first elected in 1979 and re-elected in 1983, passed away at 77 while receiving treatment at an Eldoret hospital following a stroke.
Senator Sifuna expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support during that difficult period, stating, “As a family, we are grateful for all the messages of love that we continue to receive. May God bless you all.”
The Sifuna family, known for its political and professional contributions, continues to navigate these personal losses while maintaining a legacy of service and resilience.
