Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has issued a strong warning to individuals she claims are plotting to undermine her authority, both in the county and within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. Mbarire, who also serves as the UDA National Chairperson, said she will no longer remain silent as senior government officials and political operatives attempt to destabilize her leadership.
Speaking during a recent public event in Embu, Governor Mbarire alleged that secret meetings have been taking place within the county, where unnamed figures are strategizing to weaken her political influence. She said these covert gatherings are part of a calculated plot aimed at her political downfall, but she made it clear that she is ready to confront the issue head-on.
“I will not be silent anymore,” Mbarire declared. “Some individuals, including senior government officials, have decided to frustrate my leadership, both at the county and national level. I am aware of the secret meetings they have been holding. Let them know that I will expose them if they do not stop.”
The Governor’s remarks come at a time of heightened political tension in several counties, where internal wrangles within the ruling party have been growing. Her warning signals an intensification of power struggles within UDA’s ranks, even as the party gears up for the next electoral cycle.
Mbarire assured her supporters that she remains firmly in control of the county government and committed to delivering development. She emphasized that her leadership will not be distracted by petty politics or political blackmail.
“I was elected by the people of Embu to serve them, and that’s exactly what I will continue to do,” she said. “I will not be dragged into political games meant to derail our development agenda.”
Governor Mbarire’s bold statement is likely to stir debate within political circles, especially in UDA, where internal cohesion is vital ahead of 2027. Her insistence on naming those behind the alleged sabotage if the trend continues could escalate the matter further, potentially drawing in top figures within the national government.
