The legal community and family members are today laying to rest lawyer Kyalo Mbobu, who was killed last week. The funeral service is expected to draw leaders, colleagues, and friends who knew him as a dedicated advocate.
Leaders to Attend
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is among those expected at the ceremony. He will join members of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) as they honor Mbobu’s life and career.
Last week, the LSK held a candlelight vigil in his memory. During the event, lawyers called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to act quickly and ensure justice is served.
A Life Cut Short
Mbobu was shot by an unknown gunman on a motorcycle. The sudden attack shocked many and raised fresh concerns about the safety of legal professionals in the country.
Government pathologist Johansen Oduor later confirmed that Mbobu died from excessive bleeding caused by gunshot wounds. His colleagues described him as a strong voice for justice and a defender of human rights.
Calls for Justice
The DCI is still investigating the murder. So far, no arrests have been made. The legal fraternity has warned that impunity should not prevail and urged the authorities to move with speed.
Lawyers insist that the killing must not be allowed to fade away as just another unresolved case. They believe bringing the culprits to justice will honor Mbobu’s legacy and restore confidence in the rule of law.
A Legacy Remembered
As mourners gather today, the late lawyer is being remembered as a man who stood for fairness and justice. His family, friends, and colleagues hope his killers will soon be held accountable.
Mbobu’s tragic death leaves a gap in the legal profession, but his work and memory will continue to inspire many.
