Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democratic Consolidation Party (DCP) has unveiled a new plan to train and empower young leaders as part of its strategy to expand political influence ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 5, at the DCP headquarters in Nairobi, Party Youth Leader Wanjiku Thiga said the initiative seeks to transform Kenya’s political landscape by equipping young people with leadership skills and political knowledge.
“We are the generation that refuses to be silenced. The ones who know that our revolution will not be televised; it will be organised,” declared Thiga, capturing the energy of a youthful movement determined to take charge of the country’s political future.
The event, attended by Deputy President Gachagua and DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala, marked the official launch of the Youth Training Manual, described by Thiga as the “political bible” for aspiring young leaders. The manual will serve as a guide for capacity building, leadership development, and grassroots mobilisation.
“As a party, we are building capacity, sharpening minds, and creating a new breed of leaders — unbought, unbowed, and unstoppable,” Thiga added.
DCP announced plans to train over 300 young aspirants and establish youth offices in all 47 counties. The party aims to mobilise at least three million youth voters and launch university and college chapters across the country.
Currently, only 52 of Kenya’s 330 Members of Parliament are youth. Thiga challenged the party leadership to waive nomination fees for young aspirants to enhance participation.
She further emphasised gender inclusion, noting that only 12 of Kenya’s 1,450 elected MCAs are young women. “Achieving the two-thirds gender rule is not a constitutional burden but a moral duty,” she said, pledging to ensure young women stand shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts in leadership.
