Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed his biggest regret following his impeachment: that his wife, Dorcas Rigathi, is no longer able to support the boy child initiative at the scale she once did.
Speaking on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Nyeri County during Dorcas’ ordination as a reverend, Gachagua noted that while he has found peace after leaving office, the setback in his wife’s social work remains a heavy burden.
Dorcas previously led an initiative aimed at rehabilitating and protecting vulnerable young men struggling with depression and addictions. Gachagua lamented that since his dismissal, Dorcas’ influence has significantly reduced, affecting her ability to reach as many boys as she once could.
“Our humiliating exit from office has been very pleasant to us because we have moved on, and we are happier people. The only regret I have is that Dorcas is not able to help as many boys as she would have wanted,” Gachagua said. He added that while the family supports her fully, they are disappointed by the current limitations.
The former DP also criticized the government’s lack of action in curbing illicit alcohol, particularly in Central Kenya, noting that many boys have returned to dangerous environments. “We feel very disappointed that the work we have done to get rid of illicit brews and remove the boychild from the trenches failed. The illicit brew is back, and the boys are back to the trenches. We feel very sad,” he stated.
During the ceremony, Gachagua praised Dorcas as a dedicated servant of God and a pillar of their home. He described her as the glue holding the family together and expressed gratitude to their children for supporting her ministry.
“She is a very great believer in family values, and she has put her family first. We support her in her ministry and are proud of her work,” he said.
Dorcas’ ordination marks a new chapter in her life, even as the couple continues to advocate for vulnerable young men through their family-driven initiatives.
