A senior administrator in Gatundu South sub-county has died by suicide following allegations of sexually assaulting two underage boys. The Assistant Chief, whose identity has been withheld pending further investigations, was accused of drugging and sodomising the minors before taking his own life hours after going into hiding.
According to Gatundu Police Commander Jane Makena, the suspect’s wife reported the incident after finding his body at their home. She had returned from a clinic to find the house locked from the inside. After alerting her brother-in-law, they broke in and discovered the administrator’s body hanging from the roof.
One of the victims recounted how he and two friends had gone to the Assistant Chief’s homestead to deliver milk when the administrator invited them into a separate house and offered them alcohol. While two boys left to attend to a recently circumcised peer, the intoxicated boy was left behind. He later regained consciousness at home, bleeding profusely. A medical examination confirmed he had been sexually violated, leading his family to file a police report.
That same night, the administrator allegedly followed the other two boys to a neighboring homestead. One victim described how the chief cornered him, groped him, and ordered him to lie on a bed. The terrified boy resisted, pushing the administrator away before escaping
The victims’ parents revealed that the Assistant Chief had tried to bribe them to keep silent. However, they refused, insisting on justice for their children.
Authorities have launched a probe into the incident, with Commander Makena urging the public to report any similar cases. The tragic incident has sparked outrage in Gatundu, with locals calling for stricter measures to protect minors from sexual predators in positions of authority.
As investigations continue, the case highlights the urgent need for accountability and child protection reforms to prevent such heinous acts in the future.
