Kanu national chairman Gideon Moi on Saturday visited the home of National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. The visit was to mourn the passing of Ichung’wah’s father, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi.
Tribute to a Community Leader
During the visit, Gideon Moi described the late Mzee Ngugi as a visionary leader, a respected businessman, and a man whose wisdom impacted many lives. He also recalled the longstanding friendship between Ngugi and his father, the late President Daniel arap Moi, noting that their families shared decades of close ties.
“We honour the life and memories of the late Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi. He was a visionary community leader and an astute businessman. We cherish the memories he shared as a personal friend to the late retired President Daniel arap Moi,” said Gideon Moi.
Political Leaders Show Solidarity
Gideon Moi joins a list of senior political figures who have visited the Ichung’wah family. Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah visited on Friday, followed by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, and several other cabinet members.
Mzee Ngugi, who passed on September 5, was widely regarded as a pillar in his community, known for his business acumen and commitment to social development.
Funeral Preparations
Preparations are underway for Mzee Ngugi’s final send-off, scheduled for next week. President William Ruto is expected to lead the nation in paying tribute during the burial ceremony.
Kimani Ichung’wah expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. He said the visits reflected the respect his father commanded across the political spectrum.
Mzee Ngugi’s legacy as a visionary leader and community pillar will be remembered by family, friends, and the wider Kenyan community.
