President William Ruto has commenced a three-day development tour of Migori County, marking a renewed push to strengthen government presence and service delivery in the Nyanza region. The President arrived on Sunday morning at Kadika Primary School in Suna East, where he joined worshippers for an interdenominational church service before kicking off his official itinerary.
Accompanied by several high-ranking government officials and local leaders, President Ruto’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to enhancing development in regions traditionally considered opposition strongholds. Welcoming him to the county were Cabinet Secretaries Opiyo Wandayi (Energy) and John Mbadi (Treasury), alongside Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo. Also present were Migori Governor Ochillo Ayacko, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, and National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed.
Following the church event, the Head of State is expected to proceed to Suna West to launch and inspect a series of development projects. On Monday, Ruto will visit Rongo to inspect the Kosir ESP Market and commission a newly constructed building at Rongo Comprehensive School. He will also make stops at Kosir and Rongo Town for additional engagements. In Awendo, he is scheduled to launch the construction of a new Animal Health Training Institute, a move expected to boost the region’s agricultural and veterinary capacity.
Further south in Uriri, President Ruto will inspect the Uriri ESP Market and issue a new school bus to St. Pius Uriri High School during a ceremony at Oria Market in North Kanyamkago.
On Tuesday, the final day of the tour, the President will travel to Ntimaru to inspect ongoing works at the Ntimaru ESP Market and assess progress on the Affordable Housing Project in Ntimaru Town. He will conclude his visit by handing over a school bus to Gokeharaka Secondary School before heading to Narok County.
Ruto’s tour is seen as part of his broader plan to decentralize development and ensure equitable distribution of resources across all counties, while also forging stronger ties with leaders and residents in Nyanza
