Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has urged the residents of Luo Nyanza to rally behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027, stating that such a move will strategically position the region for national leadership come 2032.
Speaking during a church service at Osakwe Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County, PS Omollo emphasized that Nyanza stands to gain significantly if it plays an active role in supporting Ruto’s administration during his second term.
“The only way for Nyanza to have a real shot at forming the next government in 2032 is by supporting President Ruto now. This is the clearest path to national power,” said Omollo.
He noted that leaders from the region who are currently aligned with the Kenya Kwanza administration are already leveraging the broad-based government framework to deliver tangible development to the people of Nyanza. Omollo argued that ongoing infrastructure, health, and education projects in the region are a result of the strategic collaboration with the national government.
The Interior PS dismissed those criticizing the working relationship between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, asserting that such critics are driven by personal interests and lack a clear development agenda.
“Those pushing for the dissolution of the agreement between President Ruto and Raila Odinga are not doing so for the people. They are driven by selfish motives and are hindering the region’s chances of advancing nationally,” he said.
Omollo’s remarks come amid ongoing national debate over the bipartisan nature of the current government and the political future of Raila Odinga, who is vying for the African Union Commission chairmanship.
PS Omollo’s call aligns with the Kenya Kwanza administration’s broader strategy of consolidating support across former opposition strongholds, particularly in western Kenya and Nyanza, ahead of the 2027 general election.
He concluded by urging Nyanza residents to look beyond politics of the past and embrace a future anchored on strategic partnerships and national inclusion.
