Wiper Party Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a strong warning to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He called for transparency and impartiality as Kenya gears up for the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the Inter-Party Cooperation For The Young Generation Forum on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Kalonzo said Kenya’s political landscape cannot continue as usual.
“We need to call out this regime and tell this government it’s not business as usual,” he said. “This generation is ongoing, and it will come to fruition at the ballot box.”
IEBC Must Remain Impartial
Kalonzo warned the electoral body against partisanship.
“We are telling IEBC as well not to be partisan. We are watching,” he said.
He also raised concerns about early procurement of election materials. According to him, the commission procured key resources even before the new Ruto-led commission assumed office. Kalonzo described this as a systemic problem and a national tragedy.
Citizens Must Stay Vigilant
The Wiper leader urged Kenyans to remain engaged and ensure their votes count.
“We need to ensure our votes count and that no institution manipulates processes,” he said.
He stressed the need for youth and older leaders to uphold constitutionalism and mentor the next generation.
“My generation has a responsibility to put this country together in the spirit of constitutionalism and rule of law. We must at some stage enjoy the company of our children,” Kalonzo said.
Building Coalitions for a Better Future
Kalonzo called for political coalitions to prevent leadership from being concentrated in tribal enclaves.
“Leadership in tribal enclaves with leaders thinking it’s their time to eat has disenfranchised many Kenyans,” he noted.
As Kenya moves toward the 2027 elections, Kalonzo’s message highlights the need for accountability, transparency, and active civic participation across all levels of society.
