Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has officially announced his presidential bid for the 2027 General Election, calling on Generation Z and all Kenyans to vote President William Ruto out of office through the ballot.
Speaking during the Wiper National Delegates Conference (NDC) held at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, Kalonzo used a witty yet symbolic phrase “shoot Ruto at the ballot” referencing President Ruto’s recent controversial directive urging police officers to shoot violent protesters in the legs.
“Ruto ordered that you be shot in the legs because you exercised your constitutional rights. I urge you to shoot him at the ballot instead,” Kalonzo told a cheering crowd. He further encouraged Kenyans, especially the youth, to register as voters and make “Wantam” a viral slogan symbolizing Ruto’s removal from power a reality.
Kalonzo also unveiled his vision for a new Kenya, pledging to reduce unnecessary taxes such as the Affordable Housing Levy, establish a functional youth enterprise fund to create jobs, lower the cost of fuel and electricity, and ensure quality education and healthcare for all citizens.
“These are not empty promises; they are concrete plans. My administration will stand for justice, opportunity, and dignity for all,” he said.
The Wiper boss vowed to restore freedom of expression and end the culture of abductions that has recently raised public concern.
Kalonzo’s announcement drew notable political figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, ex-Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and Justin Muturi signaling a potential realignment in the opposition ahead of 2027.
With this declaration, Kalonzo Musyoka positions himself as a key contender in Kenya’s next presidential race, hoping to rally Gen Z and other disillusioned voters seeking change through the power of the ballot.
