Wiper Democratic Movement (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, November 6, 2025, led a high-powered delegation of leaders from across the country to Bondo, Siaya County, to mourn the late Raila Amollo Odinga.
Speaking during a press briefing in Kisumu before the journey, Kalonzo described the visit as a symbol of unity among Kenya’s opposition leaders and a reaffirmation of their commitment to uphold Raila’s democratic legacy.
“I am dressed like this because I have come to mourn my late brother Raila Amollo Odinga, with whom we went to the trenches to give this country a good, reputable, and respectable democratic nation,” Kalonzo said. “We resisted bad governance, and Kenyans are still resisting.”
Among the leaders accompanying him were former MP Ezekiel Mweu, Patrice Ivuti, Ndoto the chairperson of the Ngema youth wing in Ukambani Secretary-General Shakilla Abdalla, Ambassador Fey, Lawyer Njiru, and former Cabinet Secretary Cecily Kariuki. Others included Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, members of the Ukambani Council of Elders, and regional clergy such as Bishop Mwangangi and Bishop Muesli.
Kalonzo noted that the united opposition was fully represented, with key figures like Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya joining in solidarity.
“The United Opposition is fully represented, and I think even Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and others will look for time to come and mourn Raila. We are all united—Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and Natembeya,” he stated.
He further lauded the warm hospitality shown by the Luo community, commending residents of Kisumu and Siaya counties for their overwhelming support during this time of mourning.
Kalonzo’s visit underscored a renewed spirit of togetherness within Kenya’s opposition, united in honouring Raila Odinga’s lifelong pursuit of democracy and justice.
