Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said that Raila Odinga’s influence will remain strong and even grow after his death, describing the late opposition leader as a timeless symbol of democracy and justice.
Speaking on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Raila’s Opoda Farm in Bondo, where he led a delegation to pay tribute, Kalonzo said Raila inspired generations of Kenyans, especially the youth, to fight for fairness, accountability, and change.
“Raila Odinga will be more powerful in death than when he was alive because he inspired the young Kenyans; he inspired Gen Z,” Kalonzo said. “I remember that young girl in 2024 who said on TV, ‘Baba, you have done enough, now rest, achia sisi hii kazi,’ and indeed, they carried on.”
Kalonzo described Raila as the “champion of democracy and devolution,” saying his ideas would continue to shape Kenya’s political destiny for decades to come. “May the champion of democracy, may the champion of devolution, rest in peace,” he added. “The enigma said, ‘bury me quickly,’ but we know the whole nation will keep coming here to honour him.”
He also noted that Raila’s legacy transcends politics, symbolizing courage and unity among Kenyans. “Our brother Rigathi would want to come, and others will come,” Kalonzo remarked, expressing hope that Raila’s grave would become a unifying place for all leaders regardless of party lines.
Raila Odinga, often described as the face of Kenya’s struggle for multi-party democracy and equitable governance, left behind a lasting legacy of resilience and reform. Kalonzo emphasized that Raila’s death marked not an end but the beginning of a renewed commitment to his ideals—a movement powered by the same values of justice and freedom that defined his life.
