Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed that the newly formed United Opposition is prepared to “make any sacrifice, bear any burden, and pay any price” to ensure President William Ruto serves only one term in office.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, Kalonzo, who addressed the media on behalf of the coalition, said their mission to unseat Ruto in the 2027 General Election is unshakable. The alliance brings together prominent political figures including Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) boss Eugene Wamalwa, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary and declared presidential aspirant Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
Kalonzo dismissed any notion that the opposition leaders could be swayed through political coercion, intimidation, or inducements.
“Anyone thinking that Kalonzo Musyoka or Eugene Wamalwa or Rigathi Gachagua or Martha Karua or Fred Matiang’i or any other of our colleagues in the united opposition will be bought, intimidated, or compromised to abandon this nation, clearly must be day-dreaming,” he declared.
The former Vice President accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of presiding over “failed policies” and described President Ruto’s leadership as a “failed regime” that has burdened Kenyans with punitive taxes, corruption, and poor governance.
“We believe William Ruto and his failed regime, with his failed policies, should be a one-term President,” Kalonzo said. “Two years later, our focus has only grown sharper, and our resolve stronger towards fulfilling this sacred mission of uniting and liberating our country from the shackles of Zakayo’s harsh taxes, corruption and bad governance.”
The Wiper leader reiterated the coalition’s commitment to restoring good governance, accountability, integrity in public service, and respect for the Constitution and the rule of law.
He called on Kenyans to stand firm with the opposition in the fight for change.
“Fellow Kenyans, we will never abandon you, and we believe you will never abandon us as well… We’re in this together to the end,” he affirmed.
With less than two years to the polls, the United Opposition is positioning itself as the main political force against Ruto, promising to intensify its campaigns nationwide.
