Youth activist Kasmuel McOure has opened up about his close relationship with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, describing him as not just a political mentor but a man of immense generosity and compassion.
Speaking during an interview on Iko Nini Podcast, McOure shared heartfelt stories about how Raila played a significant role in his life, both personally and financially. He revealed that Raila’s support went beyond politics it was rooted in genuine care and friendship.
“The least amount Raila Odinga ever gave me is Sh100,000. I never asked him,” McOure said, recalling moments when the late ODM leader would extend help without being prompted.
McOure noted that Raila was always attentive to his needs, often ensuring he was well-prepared before traveling abroad for youth programs and international conferences.
“Each time I travelled, he would take it personally and make sure I was comfortable. He cared for me so much,” he added.
According to McOure, many people were often puzzled by how he managed to attend high-profile global events. What they didn’t know, he said, was the unwavering support he received from Raila, who believed in empowering the next generation of leaders.
“People would be shocked when they saw me at some of those meetings, wondering how I managed to reach those places,” he recalled.
Before his most recent trip to the United States, McOure shared that Raila gave him approximately $8,000 (about Sh1 million) to facilitate his travel.
“Baba always looked out for me,” he said. “He really cared about me and supported my journey in many ways.”
McOure’s touching tribute paints a picture of Raila Odinga not just as a political icon, but as a compassionate mentor whose generosity transformed lives beyond the public eye.
