Political activist Kasmuel McOure has dismissed claims that he is seeking the ODM Youth League President position, following confusion sparked by a publication released during the party’s 20th Anniversary celebrations.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Saturday, November 15, clarified that Johnmark Ketorah is the legitimate Youth League President. The party urged the public to ignore any circulating reports suggesting Kasmuel had been appointed to the same role.
“The President of the ODM Youth League is Honourable Johnmark Ketorah. Ignore any publication circulating containing misleading information on the same,” read the party’s statement.
The clarification came after a document listing several individuals as holding various party positions surfaced online, wrongly naming Kasmuel among them.
On Tuesday, November 18, Kasmuel openly addressed the controversy, stating that he was not chasing titles within ODM and was willing to serve the party in any capacity.
He emphasized that his commitment to ODM was driven by passion rather than ambition.
“There is no work within the ODM party that I consider too small for me… In ODM, we do not chase titles. We ask one thing only: How best can we deliver for our people?” he said.
Kasmuel added that he prefers maintaining a low profile and allowing the party’s leadership to exercise authority without interference. However, he challenged ODM to do more in nurturing emerging political talent, arguing that many hardworking youth within the movement remain unrecognised.
“Our party needs workers… the vim and vigour of youth, consensus builders, volunteers,” he remarked.
Although widely known as a strong ODM supporter, Kasmuel confirmed that he does not currently hold any official position within the party. He previously served as part of the ODM youth and student league team appointed by the late Raila Odinga, a move that marked his entry into mainstream party activities.
