President William Ruto says Kenya can become a first-world country in the next 20 years. He spoke during a meeting with grassroots leaders in Murang’a County.
Ruto emphasized that the country’s greatest resource is its people, especially the youth. He urged Kenyans to rise above divisive politics.
“If we continue with our plans to ensure our young people are getting jobs, we are going to change Kenya in our lifetime,” he said.
He added that there is no reason Kenya should remain a third-world country. With the right decisions, he believes the nation can achieve first-world status within two decades.
Unity Over Division
The President highlighted political rivalries, tribalism, and short-term interests as major barriers to progress. He called on leaders to put aside personal differences and focus on the country’s economic growth.
“If we stop tribalism, end division, and focus on organized development, Kenya will achieve its full potential,” Ruto said.
Development and Youth Empowerment
Ruto pointed to his administration’s focus on youth employment, skills training, and investment in key sectors. He cited ongoing housing projects in Kisumu, Homa Bay, Eldoret, Nakuru, Kericho, Murang’a, Nyeri, and Ruiru, with 5,000 houses under construction.
The government has also developed 215 sites across Kenya, built more than 400 markets, and created 170,000 hostels for youth. These initiatives are generating jobs and boosting local economies.
“To transform a nation, you need to make the right decisions,” he added.
The Path Forward
President Ruto’s message is clear: Kenya can reach first-world status by embracing unity, empowering youth, and investing strategically. With consistent effort and good governance, this vision could become a reality in the next 20 years.
