Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has highlighted the progress Kenya has made under President William Ruto’s leadership. Three years into the Kenya Kwanza administration, the government has focused on turning promises into results through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA Plan), now part of the Medium-Term Plan 4 of Kenya Vision 2030.
Reviving Agriculture
Mwaura said the government has subsidized fertiliser, cutting costs from Sh7,000 to Sh2,500 per bag. This has saved billions for households and supported farmers of rice, nuts, coffee, cotton, and pyrethrum.
Seven million farmers are now registered digitally, and 21 million fertiliser bags have been distributed nationwide. Earnings have improved significantly: coffee by 52%, tea by 40%, and sugar by 76%.
Jobs and Entrepreneurship
Over 2.25 million small businesses have been formalized. Thirty-one County Aggregation Industrial Parks (CAIPs) have been upgraded, creating jobs and supporting young entrepreneurs.
Cold storage facilities, trade fairs, and digital marketing platforms have opened new markets. Many young people are now working remotely as virtual assistants for international companies.
Healthcare Improvements
Under the Social Health Authority (Taifa Care), 25.8 million Kenyans are now registered, up from 8 million in 2022.
The government has built or upgraded over 350 hospitals and digitized 10,582 facilities. More than 107,000 community health promoters have been trained, and millions have been screened for chronic diseases.
Housing, Education, and Tourism
Affordable housing projects now have 161,911 units under construction, creating over 330,000 jobs.
TVET enrollment has grown from 340,713 in 2022 to more than 718,000 today, boosting skills development.
Tourism is also thriving, generating Sh462.21 billion in revenue, with Kenya receiving 2.42 million international arrivals and over 5 million domestic tourists.
Conclusion
Mwaura emphasized that these achievements show the government’s commitment to creating a stronger, inclusive, and more prosperous Kenya.
