The Kenyan government has reached out to Ugandan authorities following the disappearance of two Kenyan nationals, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who reportedly went missing in Kampala on October 1, 2025.
In a statement, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Kenyan High Commission in Kampala, is actively engaging relevant Ugandan institutions to determine the fate of the two men.
“On the matter of two Kenyans missing in Kampala, our Mission in Uganda is actively engaging authorities. We shall provide information as it becomes available,” said Sing’oei.
A diplomatic note from the High Commission to Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs identified the missing individuals and requested assistance in tracing their whereabouts. The note followed a formal complaint submitted to the ministry by Vocal Africa, an advocacy group that alerted Kenyan authorities to the incident and called for urgent intervention.
According to the communication dated October 3, the two Kenyans were allegedly abducted by armed men around the Kireka area of Kampala. Witnesses reported that a grey van with four armed individuals stopped at a petrol station in Kamuli, where the men were taken away. A third person travelling with them was briefly detained but later released.
Reports indicate that Njagi and Oyoo had been in Uganda since September 29, accompanying two Ugandan colleagues. They later joined opposition politician Bobi Wine’s campaign trail in Buyende and Kamuli districts. Njagi was last seen addressing supporters at a campaign rally alongside the politician.
Ugandan police spokesman Kituma Rusoke stated that the two are not in police custody. Meanwhile, their families in Kenya remain deeply concerned, urging both governments to expedite efforts to locate and safely return them home.
Authorities from both nations continue to collaborate as investigations into the alleged abduction intensify.
