Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has pledged that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will conduct free and fair nominations ahead of the upcoming Baringo Senate by-election. The seat fell vacant following the death of Senator William Cheptumo earlier this year.
Speaking during an economic empowerment engagement in Kabartonjo, Baringo North, Kindiki emphasized the party’s commitment to a transparent nomination process. He assured residents that the will of the people would be respected and reflected in the UDA primaries.
“I humbly request you to support UDA’s candidate during the by-elections. I assure you the nominations will be free and fair, and we will fully support the winner so we can retain the seat,” said the Deputy President.
Kindiki called on aspirants seeking the UDA ticket to campaign peacefully and with respect for each other. He also assured those who may not win that they would not be abandoned, as the government will consider them for other roles.
“We will come here to campaign for the one who will win, and the losers will not be discarded. They will be supported in other government initiatives,” he noted.
The Deputy President also lauded the ongoing peace restoration efforts in Baringo and other parts of the North Rift. He credited initiatives from his tenure as Interior Cabinet Secretary (2022–2024) and praised current CS Kipchumba Murkomen for continuing the mission to secure the region.
“We want to ensure 100 percent peaceful coexistence in Baringo, as promised by President Ruto,” Kindiki stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to long-term peace in the region.
Tugen elders in Baringo North offered blessings to Kindiki, recognizing his loyalty to President Ruto and urging him to continue serving with dignity, with hopes that he may one day lead the nation.
On development, Kindiki announced the revival of stalled roads in Baringo and the allocation of Sh783 million for last-mile electricity connection. Additionally, 2,000 goats will be distributed to affected residents through the livestock restocking program.
Leaders present included Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, and area MPs.
