Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that the broad-based coalition formed between the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will jointly support candidates in the upcoming by-elections slated for November 27, 2025.
Speaking on Friday during the Kasipul Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement held at Sikri Vocational Training Centre grounds in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, Kindiki emphasized the coalition’s commitment to ensuring unity and victory across all electoral areas.
“We have all agreed to work together and fully support our broad-based candidates in the coming by-elections. The agreement signed by President William Ruto and the late ODM leader Raila Odinga has allowed us to back candidates from either party,” Kindiki stated.
The by-elections will take place in several constituencies including Kasipul, Ugunja, Malava, Mbeere North, Banisa, and Magarini, as well as in the Baringo Senate and various MCA seats that fell vacant.
Kindiki revealed that ODM candidates in Kasipul, Ugunja, and Magarini will receive full support from the coalition, while UDA aspirants will carry the alliance’s banner in Malava, Banisa, Mbeere North, and Baringo.
“In Kasipul, the ODM candidate Boyd Were is carrying our coalition’s flag. We are united in ensuring his victory, just as we will support our UDA candidates elsewhere,” he affirmed.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who also serves as the ODM National Chairperson, echoed Kindiki’s sentiments, reaffirming her party’s commitment to the alliance agreement.
“We stand by our word and will fully back all broad-based candidates in these by-elections. This is a partnership built on trust and national unity,” Wanga stated.
The November 27 by-elections are expected to be a key test of the emerging cooperation between Kenya Kwanza and ODM, signaling a new era in Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
