Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reiterated the government’s commitment to working with all leaders, regardless of their political or regional affiliations, to promote unity and equitable development across Kenya.
Speaking at his home in Irunduni, Tharaka Nithi County, during a meeting with grassroots leaders and residents from Kitui County, Kindiki emphasized that politics of exclusion and hatred have no place in modern Kenya.
“The politics of dividing Kenyans, preaching hatred and division has no place in Kenya. The government has been elected to serve all Kenyans in spite of how they voted,” Kindiki said.
He further affirmed that the government will not allow opposition efforts to regionalize development based on voting patterns, noting that all 47 counties deserve equal attention and investment.
Highlighting ongoing projects in Kitui, Kindiki pointed to the Sh800 million construction of Ithookwe Stadium and the Sh150 million upgrade of Ithookwe Airstrip, which will host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations. Kitui town has also undergone major improvements, including road re-carpeting.
Additionally, Kitui has benefited from Sh2.1 billion allocated under the last-mile connectivity program to connect 16,000 households. Other key projects include affordable housing initiatives, student hostels at South Eastern Kenya University and KMTC campuses, as well as modern markets in Kisasi, Zombe, Ikutha, Nuu, and Mwingi.
Road infrastructure has also received a boost, with stalled projects such as Kwa Vonza-Ikutha and Zombe-Kyuluni roads revived, while the construction of Enziu Bridge in Mwingi is being accelerated.
Kindiki urged grassroots leaders to intensify efforts in registering residents for Taifa Care under the Social Health Authority (SHA), noting that Kitui has only 400,000 registered out of a target of 1.1 million.
“We are on course to build a better Kenya, a country without any form of discrimination. All the 47 counties must develop because they are part of Kenya and I will make sure that is realized,” he declared.
