Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has affirmed that the Kenya Kwanza administration is solely focused on delivering its promises to the people and is not distracted by political rhetoric from opponents. Speaking during an economic empowerment meeting in Igegania, Gatundu North, Kiambu County, Kindiki emphasized that the government’s primary competition is its own manifesto and the need to fulfill it before the 2027 General Election.
“We are competing with our manifesto, the promises we made to the people of Kenya,” Kindiki stated. “It is possible for a government to be elected on the basis of a manifesto and live to fulfill that manifesto. We have no time to waste.”
His remarks come amid growing political chatter from opposition figures and critics, some of whom have questioned the ruling coalition’s ability to navigate political terrain. However, Kindiki dismissed such claims, reiterating that the current focus is on service delivery, not premature electioneering.
“I have seen some people out there making fun of us that we don’t know politics, that we don’t know how to campaign. The Bible says everything has its season. This is the time to work,” he said.
Kindiki further warned that when the appropriate time for politics arrives, every leader whether in government or opposition will be judged based on their track record.
“When that time comes, we will battle with those men and they will not believe it. On that day, everyone will come out with their scorecard,” he said, suggesting that past leaders now positioning themselves as alternatives had their chance in office and must be held accountable for their performance.
The Deputy President’s remarks underscore the Kenya Kwanza government’s effort to shift the political narrative from rhetoric to results. As the 2027 elections approach, the administration seems intent on using development projects and fulfilled promises as their primary campaign tools.
Kindiki’s message was a call for patience and focus, affirming that leadership is about delivering for the people rather than politicking for future seats.
