Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged voters in Mbeere North to reject revenge politics and focus on development ahead of the November 27 by-election.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Kivue on Sunday, Kindiki warned residents against being used as pawns in political schemes by former government officials who are now out of office.
“You were assigned huge duties to help the President serve the people, but you chose sabotage, threats, and intimidation, and now you are out here lying to people to follow you into the opposition,” he said, highlighting what he described as attempts to push vengeful politics.
Kindiki was campaigning for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard “Leo” Wamuthende, emphasizing the importance of voting for leaders with proven track records and clear development agendas.
“We cannot do such a foolish thing because this is the government we elected. We cannot go to the opposition yet there are many development projects lined up in our area,” he added.
The Deputy President expressed confidence in Leo’s ability to lead the constituency, noting his respectful demeanor and commitment to completing ongoing projects and initiating new development programs.
“Leo is a respectful leader. He has clearly explained what he plans to do to ensure ongoing development projects are completed and commencement of others. There is no day he has insulted anyone, even his competitors,” Kindiki noted.
Kindiki also defended his office, assuring voters that his team is focused on serving the public. He criticized opponents for contributing little to Mbeere North or the wider region during their time in office.
The Mbeere North seat became vacant in April 2025 following the resignation of MP Geoffrey Kariuki Kiringa Ruku, who was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes. Ruku formally submitted his resignation to the National Assembly on April 16, 2025.
With the by-election approaching, all eyes are on Mbeere North as residents prepare to elect a representative committed to steering the constituency toward meaningful development.
