Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged residents of Mt. Kenya not to be misled by politicians with no development agenda. He warned that abandoning the government for such leaders would be a mistake.
Speaking on Friday at the South Imenti Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement at Nkubu Stadium in Meru County, DP Kindiki accused some former leaders of being “busy bodies.” According to him, these politicians, after losing power, are now urging people to reject the government.
“When they were in power, they never pushed for any development in the region. Now, after losing their seats, they are lecturing us to abandon the government for uncertainty and the unknown. We cannot and will not allow that to happen,” he said.
The Deputy President emphasized that the people of Mt. Kenya support President William Ruto because of tangible development projects underway and planned for the region. “We have seen what he has done and what he plans to do. That is why we are advocating for him to serve two terms,” DP Kindiki noted.
He highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure, particularly the Nithi Bridge project. “Previous governments did not fund the redesigning of Nithi Bridge, yet no one threatened them with one term. Now, President Ruto has allocated Sh8 billion for its construction, and some are asking us to vote him out. It’s not possible,” he said.
DP Kindiki also assured residents that all ongoing projects in Meru County will be completed on time. He urged the public not to fall for empty promises from leaders who did nothing when in office.
“I cannot be a DP in a place where the President has no support. I will do everything to ensure he is respected and backed because we have seen what he has done and what he will continue to do,” he said.
