Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has pledged to organize a visit to State House for residents of Kajiado East, terming it part of an empowerment initiative.
Speaking on Saturday, September 20, 2025, during the Kajiado County Women SACCOs Economic Empowerment Engagement in Mashuru, Kindiki assured the crowd that he would seek President William Ruto’s approval to host thousands of locals at the presidential residence.
“Na mngependa kutembea Ikulu pia? Tuwaundie programme muende pale Ikulu? Mkae pale na mdosi?” Kindiki asked, sparking cheers from the attendees.
The Deputy President further emphasized that his role would be to facilitate the connection between Kajiado residents and President Ruto.
“Watu wa Kajiado County, mkue uko kwa wingi, maelfu na maelfu. Wangapi wananituma kwa Rais ati wanataka kumtembelea? Basi wacha niende nishikanishe wire,” he added.
State House Belongs to the People
Kindiki’s announcement comes just a day after President Ruto reaffirmed that State House is the home of all Kenyans.
Speaking on Friday, September 19, during the launch of the SHA sponsorship programme at State House, Nairobi, Ruto dismissed critics who claimed that the dignity of the residence had been eroded by frequent public visits.
“Mko na ruhusa ya kukuja hapa kwa sababu makao haya ni makao ya wananchi wa taifa la Kenya,” Ruto stated. He stressed that his administration is committed to making State House accessible to ordinary citizens.
The Head of State also drew on biblical references to underscore his point, saying that opening State House to the public was a way of elevating the dignity of Kenyans.
Significance for Kajiado Residents
For the people of Kajiado, the promised trip marks not just a symbolic visit but also an opportunity to engage directly with national leadership. Framing the gesture as an empowerment programme, Kindiki’s move could strengthen the county’s connection with the presidency while boosting grassroots confidence in government inclusivity.
