Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenyans that ODM Party leader Raila Odinga is safe, healthy, and resting, quelling recent rumours surrounding the veteran opposition leader’s health.
Speaking during a public gathering in Siaya County on Monday, October 13, 2025, Kindiki revealed that he had personally spoken with Odinga before attending the event. He emphasized that Raila was in good spirits and had extended his greetings to the people of Siaya.
“Mimi nimeona kuna watu wameanza kutakia maovu wengine… nimeomba ruhusa Mheshimiwa Raila Odinga anajua niko hapa. Nimezungumza naye mbele ya Governor James Orengo na Oburu Odinga,” Kindiki told the crowd.
The Deputy President strongly condemned individuals spreading falsehoods or wishing harm upon Odinga, noting that such behaviour goes against African cultural values.
“Mheshimiwa Raila Odinga is safe and healthy. I’ve spoken to him. Those who are wishing him ill are not good people,” he said.
Kindiki reassured residents that Odinga was resting comfortably and had expressed his appreciation for their continued support.
“Nataka niwaakikishie ako salama. Mimeongea naye, anapumzika na amesema tumekaribishwa hapa. Amesema karibuni anakuja nyumbani kukutana nanyi,” he added.
During the event, Kindiki also took a swipe at those attempting to destabilize Kenya’s growing political alliance, asserting that unity within the coalition will triumph ahead of the 2027 elections.
He further urged Kenyans to respect leaders across the political divide, highlighting the importance of unity and reconciliation.
“We wish him well, and when he comes back and shakes hands with Ruto, those are our leaders. We respect them,” Kindiki said.
The reassurance from the Deputy President comes amid widespread speculation about Raila Odinga’s health, bringing relief to supporters across the country.
