Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has cautioned the opposition against dragging the government into early political battles, insisting that the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on development rather than “premature and unproductive politics.”
Speaking during the Maara Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement in Chogoria, Tharaka Nithi County, Kindiki said political distractions would only slow down progress on crucial projects meant to improve citizens’ lives.
“It is not yet time to engage in premature and useless politics. Those enticing us to politick now are our enemies who don’t mean well for us. We must reject their invitation because we have a lot to deliver,” he declared.
Kindiki emphasized that the current government is determined to complete all stalled and ongoing projects across the country. He cited several revived infrastructure projects in Tharaka Nithi, including the Chogoria–Mutindwa–Weru and Keeria–Magutuni–Kathwana roads. He also announced the construction of new roads such as Katharaka–Kanoro and Mitheru–Kamachuku, pledging to ensure their timely completion.
The Deputy President further revealed that the reconstruction of the Nithi Bridge, which has claimed numerous lives due to accidents, had begun with Sh8 billion already allocated. He defended President William Ruto’s leadership, saying Ruto deserves a second term to complete such transformative projects.
“No one told Moi, Kibaki, or Uhuru to serve one term, yet they failed to rebuild the Nithi Bridge. Now that Ruto is doing it, we are told he should serve for one term. It won’t happen,” Kindiki asserted.
He also announced an increase in the last-mile electricity connection budget from Sh400 million to Sh1.2 billion, alongside plans to build six new modern markets across the county’s constituencies.
Kindiki was accompanied by several leaders, including National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, and local MPs, underscoring the government’s united focus on delivering development before engaging in politics.
