A 24-year-old woman has been arrested for fatally stabbing her 38-year-old husband at Orata, Kitengela. The incident happened after the couple attended a church service on Sunday, September 14, 2015.
The deceased, a tout by profession, sustained a stab wound to the thigh. He was rushed to Kitengela Sub-County Hospital by neighbors. Unfortunately, he died while receiving treatment. The suspect, a shoe vendor, is now in police custody.
Police Call for Calm
Isinya Sub-County police commander Simon Lokitari confirmed the arrest. He urged couples to resolve conflicts peacefully. “Life is precious. Ending it is both a crime and ungodly. I appeal to couples to solve disputes through dialogue,” Lokitari said.
History of Domestic Violence
The deceased’s father, Reuben Thuku Njuguna, revealed that the couple had a history of domestic violence. He said the woman had previously stabbed his son in the chest and even attempted another attack at the in-laws’ home.
On the day of the incident, the woman called her father-in-law seeking help after the quarrel. Neighbors rushed the injured man to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Family Appeals for Support
The family has appealed to well-wishers to assist with burial arrangements in Nakuru, citing financial difficulties. Njuguna also urged authorities to ensure justice is served.
Next Steps
The suspect is being held at Kitengela Police Station. She is expected to be arraigned at Kajiado Law Court on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Meanwhile, the deceased’s body remains at the Kitengela Sub-County Hospital funeral home.
Police investigations are ongoing. Authorities continue to warn the public against taking the law into their own hands and encourage peaceful conflict resolution.
