Gachagua, who has branded him “Mr. Moneybags,” accuses Kindiki of using state resources to boost his national profile through empowerment programmes. But Kindiki has brushed off such attacks, insisting his youth and women-focused initiatives are vital for grassroots development. “Empowerment is central to bettering lives,” he said recently, defending the modest funding extended to small traders and saccos.
Mocked by critics for his supposed lack of “bass”—a dig at both his voice and political clout—Kindiki has leaned into the ridicule, turning it into fuel for his rising political persona. A resurfaced video of him questioning whether he lacks “bass” drew both laughter and support, highlighting his growing confidence in the public arena.
Kindiki has firmly positioned himself as President William Ruto’s most loyal ally, taking every opportunity to defend government policies and counter dissenters. His firm rebuke of Gachagua’s comments about artists endorsing government programs and his public addresses warning against ethnic incitement show a DP unafraid of confrontation.
“We will not lend space to those trying to divide and incite Kenyans,” he told a crowd in Meru, further reinforcing his nationalist stance.
As Kindiki tours counties like Machakos rallying support, it’s clear he is not just defending the Ruto administration he is solidifying his own political base.
