Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta on Thursday, October 30, 2025, visited the family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at their Opoda Farm home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Siaya County, to offer her condolences following his passing.
It was her first visit to the Odinga family since Raila’s burial on October 19, 2025, which drew national and international attention as Kenyans bid farewell to one of the country’s most influential political figures.
During her visit, Mama Ngina was warmly received by Mama Ida Odinga and other family members. The meeting was marked by reflection and solidarity as the Kenyatta family joined the Odingas in mourning the loss of a statesman who had played a pivotal role in Kenya’s democratic journey.
In a statement shared on X, the Odinga family expressed deep appreciation for Mama Ngina’s gesture.
“Thank you, Former First Lady, H.E. Mama Ngina Kenyatta and your family for joining the nation in mourning and coming home to commiserate with H.E. Mama Ida Odinga and the family of the late Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, CGH,” the family said.
The visit follows a steady stream of condolence visits from leaders across the region. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was the first senior political figure to visit Raila’s grave a day after his burial, describing him as a steadfast leader who dedicated his life to democracy and justice.
On October 29, 2025, former Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo also visited the Odinga family, hailing Raila as one of Africa’s great sons whose contributions to democracy would never be forgotten.
The continued visits underscore Raila Odinga’s enduring influence in Kenya and beyond, as leaders continue to pay tribute to his lifelong pursuit of unity, justice, and good governance.
