Former Senior State House Advisor Moses Kuria has extended an olive branch to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, expressing willingness to work together but under one firm condition. Kuria insists Gachagua must immediately stop disrespecting leaders, particularly women, from the Mt Kenya region.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, Kuria, who is a close ally of President William Ruto, acknowledged Gachagua’s growing political influence across Mt Kenya. He went as far as describing the former DP as the “undisputed kingpin” of the region, a title that cements Gachagua’s authority among local leaders and voters.
“To my brother Rigathi Gachagua, I am an honest man. By now you know that. It is an undeniable fact that the majority of our Mt Kenya people listen to you,” Kuria stated.
“You are edging closer to being our undisputed Kingpin in the Mountain. Just like Gideon Moi and William Ruto are working together, I might consider working with you very soon,” he added.
However, Kuria cautioned that any political alliance would only materialize if Gachagua changed his tone towards fellow leaders, especially women.
“Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular, and all Mt Kenya women by extension,” he pleaded. “It doesn’t sound commensurate with your undisputed kingpin status.”
Kuria’s remarks came shortly after a viral video showed Gachagua accusing Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru of undermining regional unity by allegedly working with President Ruto to divide Mt Kenya.
The latest exchange highlights the intensifying supremacy battle for Mt Kenya’s political control ahead of the 2027 General Election. Despite internal tensions, Gachagua continues to wield significant influence, especially after his impeachment last year, which paradoxically seems to have boosted his regional standing.
