Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera has demanded a swift and transparent investigation into the mysterious death of Munyuki High School principal Simon Itiaho Shange, whose body was found days after he went missing under unclear circumstances.
The incident began on November 3, 2025, when Shange was reportedly involved in a road accident along the Eldoret–Malaba Highway. Shortly after the crash, he disappeared, raising alarm and sparking widespread speculation within the Lugari community.
MP Nabwera, speaking through his lawyer Danstan Omari, urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to prioritise the case, citing the growing public concern and the significant role Shange played in the education sector.
“This is not a minor matter. This is a principal of a respected and well-performing school. The family, students, and the entire constituency deserve clarity and quick action,” Nabwera said.
The legislator instructed his lawyer to formally engage the DCI and push for a comprehensive reconstruction of events leading up to the principal’s disappearance. He also appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid politicising the tragedy.
However, tension in the area escalated when Shange’s body was discovered in the Kipkaren River on Saturday morning. The grim discovery triggered angry protests as residents and students stormed Lumakanda Police Station, damaging property and vehicles in frustration over the perceived lack of progress.
Western Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud confirmed that a team of experts has been assigned to investigate the case. He assured residents that justice will be served, emphasizing that no theory including foul play has been ruled out.
As the community mourns a respected educator, Lugari now waits anxiously for answers about what truly happened in the tragic final moments of Simon Itiaho Shange.
