Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has alleged that he was violently apprehended by a group of heavily armed men claiming to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). In a series of social media posts on Friday afternoon, the embattled legislator described a terrifying ambush that occurred along a highway following his tour of Isiolo County.
According to Salasya, the incident involved approximately 15 masked men armed with AK-47 rifles who intercepted his convoy in broad daylight. The gunmen reportedly fired multiple rounds, targeting the tyres of his vehicle, rendering it immobile. Salasya claims his security team was swiftly disarmed, and their weapons confiscated during the ambush.
“I have just been attacked by unknown individuals claiming to be DCI officers,” Salasya wrote on X. “These people, heavily armed and moving with force, ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team confiscating their firearms and pursued my vehicle.”
The MP further stated that multiple unidentified vehicles had been trailing his motorcade before they blocked his path and used his own support cars to trap him. He described the operation as highly coordinated and executed with military-style precision.
“These are the vehicles that drove ahead of my convoy my security and sound car were trailing behind. My vehicle, the one in front, was cornered. The attackers hijacked the cars ahead and used them to trap me,” he explained.
Salasya claims that one of his security officers managed to escape the scene and helped him flee into nearby bushes. However, he was eventually captured and is now allegedly being transported to an undisclosed location. He expressed deep concern for his safety, urging both the public and authorities to take notice.
“They shot at my vehicle, aiming directly at me,” he said. “They confronted me with a chilling message one I cannot disclose at this time for security reasons.”
The MP’s allegations have yet to be confirmed by the police or the DCI. The motive behind the purported attack remains unclear, and the situation continues to develop.
