Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has firmly rejected claims that he is a political project of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), following his bold announcement to vie for the presidency in 2027. Speaking via his social media platforms, Salasya labeled the allegations as “cheap propaganda” orchestrated by individuals threatened by the momentum he is gaining nationwide.
“I am not a UDA project. I am not funded by State House. I have never received a single cent from any government official,” Salasya stated, distancing himself from any association with the ruling party or its financiers.
The youthful legislator also defended the integrity of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) allocations in his constituency. He assured the public that every shilling has been accounted for and invested in transformative community projects. “Our projects are visible, trackable, and transformative. Ask the students, the schools, the hospitals, and the parents on the ground. We’re delivering, not looting,” he affirmed.
Salasya, 35, emphasized that his political rise is backed not by financial muscle but by what he described as “pure strategy, unmatched charisma, and massive goodwill” from Kenyans, especially the youth, who are yearning for meaningful change.
In a statement shared on April 28, Salasya explained that his decision to contest for the highest office came after deep reflection and wide consultation. He extended an open call to youth, women, workers, entrepreneurs, and all dreamers to support his journey towards what he termed “a new dawn” for Kenya.
Salasya has already begun outlining his policy priorities, chief among them being industrialization and employment. “My industrialisation blueprint? It’s a game-changer. We’ll crash unemployment from 35% to single digits. Look at Rwanda they did it. So can we!” he said.
Despite acknowledging the challenges of running against seasoned political heavyweights, Salasya maintains that he is ready and determined. Backed by what he calls a network of patriotic Kenyans, he vows to offer a fresh and people-centered alternative in the 2027 presidential race.
