Kenya’s National Assembly has approved the appointment of 11 nominees to serve in various diplomatic and political offices, following successful vetting sessions by parliamentary committees.
The approvals, tabled on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, were anchored on the findings of the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations, alongside the Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC).

Nine nominees were cleared to represent Kenya in foreign missions. Former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Chepngetich Bore was appointed as the High Commissioner to Namibia at the Windhoek mission.
Other approvals include:
- Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri – Ambassador to Turkey
- Lucy Kiruthu – Ambassador to Thailand
- Henry Wambuma – Ambassador to Burundi
- Abdirashid Salat Abdille – Ambassador to Indonesia
- Joseph Musyoka Masila – Ambassador to Saudi Arabia
- Edwin Afande – Ambassador to Austria
In addition, Jayne Jepkorir Toroitich was appointed Consul-General to the United Arab Emirates, while Judy Kiaria Nkumiri will take up the same role in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Registrar of Political Parties
Parliament also approved the appointment of John Cox Lorionokou as the new Registrar of Political Parties, succeeding Ann Nderitu, who recently joined the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as a commissioner. Agatha Wanjiku Wahome was confirmed as the Assistant Registrar.
JLAC chair George Murugara emphasized that the committee conducted “exhaustive” hearings, confirming that the nominees possessed the required qualifications, knowledge, and experience to serve effectively.
Next Steps
With Parliament’s approval, the nominees now await formal appointment and gazettement by President William Ruto. Once gazetted, they will assume their respective offices, strengthening Kenya’s foreign representation and political governance institutions.
