Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi has expressed strong confidence in President William Ruto’s re-election prospects, declaring that defeating him in the 2027 General Election will be “very difficult.”
Speaking during the burial of corporate trailblazer Mzee Aggrey Luseno in Sabatia, Vihiga County, Mudavadi urged residents of Western Kenya to rally behind President Ruto and his development agenda. He said political realignments currently unfolding in the country point to a broader consensus that favors Ruto’s leadership.
“I want us to remain focused and forthright as a people of Western Kenya,” Mudavadi said. “We should stop this blame game and work towards a common goal. The State House door is open for all Kenyans. President Ruto means well for every region.”
Reflecting on past political journeys, Mudavadi reminded the region of his guidance during previous elections. “In 2017, I led you to NASA. In 2022, I gave you the Earthquake. Now we are in a broad-based government, and I want you to be ready for the next direction I will give you ahead of 2027.”
Mudavadi highlighted the recent political handshake between President Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga as a symbol of national unity, noting that the agreement aims to tackle critical issues such as public debt, the high cost of living, and corruption.
He also defended Raila’s decision to work with Kenya Kwanza, particularly in his bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship, emphasizing the need to rise above political rivalry. “We must stop looking at issues through a black-and-white lens,” he said.
Echoing calls for unity, Mudavadi urged Western Kenya to speak with one voice to secure development opportunities and national influence. He reaffirmed his longstanding support for devolution, recalling his role in pioneering legislation that empowered county governments.
The burial ceremony honored Mzee Aggrey Luseno, a distinguished leader in the corporate world, who broke racial barriers at British American Tobacco and set a precedent for African leadership in multinational companies.
