Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed growing criticism from the opposition, saying the Kenya Kwanza government is firmly focused on fulfilling its development promises and not distracted by the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Tharaka Nithi during the Jukwaa la Usalama tour, Mudavadi described the opposition’s remarks as “empty rhetoric” designed to derail the government’s long-term transformation agenda. He assured Kenyans that the administration remains strong and steady under President William Ruto’s leadership.
“Nataka watu wajue kwamba serikali ya Kenya na Wakenya tuko imara. President wetu ni William Ruto, Deputy wake ni Prof. Kithure Kindiki, na Prime Cabinet Secretary ni Musalia Mudavadi. Hatutishwi na uchaguzi,” Mudavadi stated.
He warned against attempts to undermine public confidence in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and its new commissioners. He praised the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, chaired by Tharaka MP George Murugara, for steering a transparent vetting process.
“Hon. Murugara’s leadership in Parliament has helped to achieve a very important mission for the people of Kenya,” he said.
Mudavadi pointed to the reconstitution of the IEBC as a milestone emerging from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) recommendations and subsequent legal processes, affirming it will ensure credible elections.
At the launch of the Tharaka Boda Boda Sacco Economic Empowerment Programme, Mudavadi said the government remains committed to implementing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), anchored in Article 43 of the Constitution. This article guarantees every Kenyan the right to health care, housing, clean water, food, social security, and education.
He defended President Ruto’s affordable housing initiative, noting it responds to constitutional obligations and the urgent need for decent living conditions.
“President Ruto has taken difficult decisions because Kenyans deserve better,” he said.
Acknowledging challenges in the health sector, he called for public support and unity.
Mudavadi concluded by urging locals to support Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, praising his professionalism and commitment to national development.
