Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi has paid a moving tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, describing him as a political brother, a friend, and a national icon whose legacy will endure for generations.
Speaking on Sunday during Raila’s burial in Nyamira village, Bondo Constituency, Siaya County, Mudavadi reflected on their shared journey through Kenya’s political struggles. He said Raila’s leadership and sacrifice shaped the nation’s democratic path and inspired millions across the country.
“For decades, we walked side by side through seasons of hope, hardship, triumph, and transformation,” Mudavadi said. “Raila’s courage, conviction, and unwavering love for Kenya inspired generations and defined our political evolution.”
He praised Raila’s steadfast commitment to justice, democracy, and unity, noting that his voice carried the heartbeat of the nation and his actions spoke louder than words.
“Raila’s voice may have fallen silent, but his legacy will continue to echo through his family, his supporters, and the millions whose lives he touched,” Mudavadi stated.
He further acknowledged Raila’s immense contribution to Kenya’s political landscape, describing him as a man who endured adversity for the sake of the country’s progress.
“Raila’s ideals, sacrifices, and vision are now woven into the fabric of our nation’s story. He stood firm in moments of uncertainty and gave hope when many despaired,” he added.
Mudavadi concluded his tribute with a heartfelt message, calling Raila’s legacy a guiding light for Kenya’s future.
“May his light continue to guide Kenya toward unity, justice, and prosperity. Fare thee well, my brother Raila. Your journey on this earth may have ended, but your legacy will endure forever,” he said.
Raila Odinga, a towering figure in Kenya’s political history, was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony attended by family, friends, and national leaders, marking the end of an era for one of the country’s most influential statesmen.
